Prologue Part 1: I Refuse!

Here is Kuro Translations first chapter! Translated by Blue and edited by Kuro! Please let us know if you find any mistakes or think a sentence would be better written in another manner, we are welcome to constructive criticism!

I Refuse

I don’t really have any complaints about the current Japan.

Nor do I have a reason to work in a sweatshop.

(TLNote: it literally says ‘I have no reason such as the workplace being black.’)

(ENote: Black company I think is what you mean. It is the japanese term for a sweatshop so I changed it to the current, does it match what you understand?)

There’s no way I would have a wife or daughter.

However, those things aren’t all there is to life.

(TLNote: Literally, ‘However, this world is not transient’)

(ENote: I think that’s a good interpretation there)

I watch TV, play new games, read novels in the bath, and eat rice daily. I am also a former student who doesn’t really want to go back to his student life.

(ENote: there a reason to specify ‘new’ games? Also if my memory is correct Gohan can mean both food and rice, correct? Something I remember from dragonball =P)

Although there are many opinions on this point, such as “Student life was better!”, which is a popular one.

But if you think about it, was student life really that free?

Being chased by academics, always being tight on cash, and don’t even think about asking one’s parents for money.

Aah, sorry to all those who are still relying on their parents. I wasn’t particularly saying that parents were a hindrance.

Living without the support from my parents, that was fun. I got the experience called living.

I guess what I want to say is,

I’m satisfied with the way things are.

That’s why, when people come to visit my apartment, I can confidently say,

“I don’t have any interest in things like religion, and you’re intruding into my home.”

Roughly, everyone is the same, right? I don’t really want to be a newcomer in a religious cult. Rather, I’m the type of guy that joins his parents’ religion.

Well, I am sorry to say I am not interested and attempt to close the door.

(TLNote: This paragraph makes no sense, specificially: わざわざ自分で新手の新興宗教探して入るとかなかなかないだろ。気が付いたら親にその宗教にいれられてたーってやつ。

ま、そんな感じでお断りを入れてドアを閉じようとするが。)

“W-Wait! Would you please hear me out!?”

(ENote: I think hear me out works better here)

As I heard this, a hand entered between the door frame and the door. I can’t help but think ‘please stop already’!

Even though I could slam the door despite her hand being there, unfortunately, I am incapable of being such a demon.

So, with no choice, I open the door again.

“Are you not interested in managing a dungeon? If you accept now, it comes with the goddess’ blessings and support!”

(TLNote: After jumping in suddenly, I didn’t expect to be assailed with such a pleasant surprise. I may actually enjoy this.)

(ENote: Glad your having fun =) )

A blonde beauty wearing a suit quickly said in a loud voice, in this situation who else would do this?

Saying, “It was love at first sight!” or something like that, and allow her into their home in ten thousand steps.

(TLNote: please help. why is there ten thousand steps.)

(ENote: let’s keep it as is for now, a commenter might know, but I think it’s an idiom)

Or rather, not ten thousand steps, but something synonymous.

I’m not religious, for those who think that, please hear me out! Suddenly, I am regretting thinking as my lower head dictated.

(TLNote: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))

(ENote: that should be easier to understand now =P)

Okay, I can’t allow myself to be put at a disadvantage, for now my saying “I’ll hear you out” is their goal. After all, when you hear the details, even those that say, “I have no interest in management!” turn around and say “it’s okay, I shall support you!!” and after a long period of time, they will be buried in work.

(TLNote: lit. become a quagmire)

(ENote: due to the context I believe buried in work will do)

In this case, words such as ‘I have work now,’ or ‘there is urgent business’ will only serve to make things worse and give the opponent more ammo.

As such, I took the chance to open the door, saying, [I heard you wrong]. By the way, my usual protocol is to close the door, and turn off the intercom.

Well, everyone has their own ways of saying ‘No’ I guess.

And to the beauty who put her hand in the doorway, I’m not of high enough quality for such a woman. And whatever drama, light novel, or manga you found that says quality doesn’t matter, I’m not capable of raising that kind of flag.

[Could you please remove your hand from the doorway? It’s not safe for your hand to be there.]

I open the door a bit (this is important), and wait for her to release her hand and step back.

And then I shut the door.

“Huh? Huuh? Huuuuh?”

(TLNote: GET REKT)

(ENote: =P)

I then disable the intercom and turn up the music of my game.

Hmm? I’m a demon? The people who say that can waste their time listening carefully to all the fraudulent scams they want.

To the people who say, ‘this place is always noisy, what do i do?’ don’t worry, reality is ruthless. Call the police and it’ll be over.

And the beauty seems to have given up when the door was closed, without making too much of a fuss.

Let us celebrate by lowering the volume of the game.

“Don’t fuck with me!”

Suddenly the beauty appeared, blocking my view of the screen.

And the game I was playing was a real-time action RPG with no time to pause.

Aaand instant death in the middle of a boss fight. I shift her out of the way to see my character in the middle of a final judgement.

(TLNote; GET REKT, REVENGE)

…..My poor heart…..

[The one who is fucking around is you!]

I game character was going to die. But I was still calm. I pick up my smartphone, dial 110, and… connected!

[Hello, is this the police? There’s someone I don’t know in my house, yes, my address is….]

[Wait! No, please don’t, it’s a misunderstanding!]

The beauty, finally realizing what was happening turned off the call with a swift flick of her hand.

[There’s no way this is a misunderstanding, you’re definitely trespassing.]

Once again, I call 110…. and it was disrupted.

[This guy is tough… well, if it’s come to this…]

If I say something rash, or rather, even the usual kind of talking. I have the confidence to say that the japanese public is not told about 90% of the snooping that the government does on us.

And so, the beauty finally removes her hand.

[I’ll explain over there!]

And then light began to converge on me…

(ENote: BTW I didn’t know what Bijin meant, but it sounds like what anime characters say when someone is beautiful so i replaced it with beauty. I am done editing, what do you think? did I do a decent job?)

(TLNote: Bijin literally means ‘Beautiful Woman’, so I’ll respect your call on that. Otherwise, I think that you did a pretty good job! I’ll look forward to working with you in the future.)

  1. there is already a person that has translated this to chp 8 so if you wanna use his work for reference you can find him by searching for this novel on “novelupdates”. btw he hasn’t been active for who knows how long so it’s not like you’re stealing the series from him.
