Prologue 3: Negotiation

Sorry for the delay, this one was quiet complicated to get right, and I am still not sure if I got some parts correct. If anyone spots anything please let me know and I’ll do my best to fix it =)

「Wh-why?」

 

The Bijin-San who cried that came questioning.

 

「No, when told “It’s a one way trip and that you can’t return”, what person would say, “Okay~!”? For now, sit down. I understand your objective, but for now the details are too unclear.」

 

Being sent off on a one way trip, without being told the details or purpose, if there are those who would accept that, please teach them some sense.

Those kinds of people in manga or Light Novels, or those that, in this world, are in despair, I am not one of those.

Ah! and there were also people who were, in the story, the type who gets fooled when told the purpose but not the details, so let’s be careful.

 

「Y-yes, that is so, first, let us get to know each other. Since I’ve forgotten to introduce myself, my name is Luna.」

 

No, no one asked for your name.

 

「Bust 91, Waist 58, Hips 85. On Earth I have been called various names such as Athena and Freyja」

(ENote: these measurements are in cm I believe, at the very least I think it’s in the metric system)

(TLNote: I hope they are. For all mankind’s sake.)

Such outrageous information came out suddenly. Her three sizes and the other half of the line… Well, I can’t quite see that.

Now I understand, or rather it was obvious, when such a goddess is transmitted to this world, she will definitely become confused. Though, that possibility is a bit of a stretch.

 

「Hmm? Are you fascinated by me? It can’t be helped. Since I have been called the goddess of beauty after all.」

(TLNote: Personally, I’m wondering how she got to be known as Athena. Athena is the goddess of just war and wisdom after all, two qualities this Bijin has yet to display.)

(ENote: well freyja is known for love, sex, beauty, fertility, gold, war, and death so maybe she was mistaken because of the war part?)

「No, that kind of thing is not really important, but what was that part about managing a dungeon?」

 

For now, since it’s annoying, let’s cut to the chase.

Incidentally, this self proclaimed goddess, Luna’s, appearance is a semi long blonde cut, and her eyes are a heterochromatic blue and red.

She seems to be a foreigner, and about 170cm tall. I don’t know the foreign average, but that’ rather average for a Japanese person.

 

「Hey you! That’s not cute at all, understand?! I’ll be sending you to the other world no matter what anyways. Whether you hear me out or not, the result will still be the same!」

「Well, my main purpose here was to talk for a bit.」

 

「What the hell!」

 

This woman….

 

And, after over half an hour, she finished explaining.

 

Here it is, the brief summary.

 

Purpose: To maintain the balance of Energy (Energy is also called Magic Power) of the otherworld, Aurora, by maintaining a dungeon.

(ENote: I think アウロラ Aurora makes more since then アロウリト Arourito, so I’ll change it to that.)

 

The Reason: By circulating Magic Power throughout Aurora to create the environment, and adding the third frame of law called magic to the natural laws, the current Aurora has too much magic in certain places. In short, with monsters and homunculi, (The promise of many races) the entire world’s environment is getting worse, similar to what is known here as ‘Global Warming’.

At this rate the civilization that centers around magic will disintegrate and creatures that rely on magic will disappear. Well, that’s a few thousand years away though.

 

Primary Solution: Because the gods do not want the world to be destroyed, the gods decided to manage a dungeon! Called a dungeon, you create a feeding ground to recover magic. In short, this dungeon would be similar to the games with heroes, demon lords, other types of unintelligent life, even wild demons.

 

Primary Solution Results: ‘Hey wait, I’m pretty sure this isn’t my stuff.’ However, was different. This first strategy is the natives, in short, it was delegated to Aurora’s intelligent life. However, Aurora’s civilization isn’t even close to the european middle ages, so the dungeon leaves much to be desired, and before you could say Dungeons and Dragons the caretakers went berserk and were defeated, and they had to apologize for trying to take over the world.

 

Secondary Solution: Here’s where I come in. In short, because leaving things to idiots just ruins everything, if it was a smart person it would turn out fine, yes? However in Aurora, most people are idiots……. or it seems like it. ‘So let’s grab someone from another world!’ At least, that’s the gist of it.

 

And so it was planned. One by one, Luna (the goddess) judged people unworthy. ‘Geez, I can’t use most people’ thought Luna.

 

「If it’s only temporary then it should be good, but gods can’t just stay in one place until the end of the world. Just like you have moved from the place you call home many times.」

 

So that’s the reason, I have completely become interested in the scale of the problem.

Speaking from the standpoint of a human who keeps a dog or a cat that you don’t have a need for or want for company, it would be overly exhausting, because of the constant maintenance needed to take care of them.

 

「What you guys call almighty gods are real, but tend to be hikikomori. However, because they still work really hard there’s no impact if they stay holed up in their rooms.」

 

They exist? Almighty gods like that?

 

「In that world the framework of depending on gods is there however, it’s deteriorating… In all honesty this is a natural occurrence, in Aurora Magic Beasts and Spirits make up the framework. The limited functionality is the best however overall the personality is poor.」

 

Ahh, it seems that wherever you go it’s always the same. So this is the level of a World Management Company.

 

「To be honest, this Earth’s Japan’s knowledge and culture is more than Aurora’s upper gods.」

 

Oufu… Aurora’s gods are just the worst.

However, I have agreed to the job now. Especially, since sending the usual protagonists who despair of the world in light novels, manga and movies, does not help solve anything.

However, there is one question. If I do take the job, eventually I will have to be replaced in 100 years or so, no?

 

「Ah, I forgot to say it, but you’ll be eternally young. You can’t become sick and then die. but you won’t be immortal, since it often turns into people running rampant. Also, by coming along you won’t have to work as much.」

 

Aah, I see now. In conclusion I manage a dungeon, but if I go berserk, then a hero  will come along to take care of me.

 

「I think I just about understand, but why can’t I return?」

「You understand this world’s affairs, right? if Earth and the underdeveloped, magic possessing Aurora are connected, what do you think will happen?」

「Aah, now that you say it, it would be better if Aurora was not swallowed by earth. However, is magic really that weak of a thing?」

「No, over here they’d be similar to nuclear weapons, but from there the citizens of earth would quickly catch up with interstellar flight and other things that could be created with magic. However, the most important thing is that the culture level is….」

「I see now. I’ve already said that I want to keep the Magic Civilization of Aurora, so it would be better if the science culture of Earth didn’t mix in.」

「That is so. Or rather, certainly the Earth’s side would first analyze the magic and take it.」

 

「Well then, what if I go to Aurora and change their culture with Japan’s?」

 

This is the strangest thing. If I go and become immortal, the culture of Earth’s japan will definitely influence the culture of Aurora.

 

「What are you saying? This accepting Japanese Culture? How do you intend to go over there, get the other side to accept Japanese culture and raise the Japanese flag? 」

「Certainly. That’s would be difficult, if it isn’t done on a global scale it’ll certainly be wiped out by others, but when I succeed and encourage the development of Aurora’s Culture, it’ll be on an acceptable scale.」

「That’s how it is. And finally, the reason for managing a public dungeon is made clear. If Japanese culture can rub off onto Aurora’s it would be good. If it’s impossible, it wouldn’t effect anything anyways.」

That’s unreasonable. The thought of earth is on more than one collective level.

People view Evil beasts as a thing that must absolutely be destroyed.

If the existence of such an enemy world was confirmed, people would definitely call for sacrifice.

No matter how you think of it, it’s tyrannical.

(ENote: This paragraph confuses me too much. If anyone has a better Idea of what it’s saying please tell me)

 

「Now you understand various things. The best way to manage the circulatory organ of mana, called a Dungeon, is efficiency.」

「OK, I’ve pretty much understood what you have to say. However, what will happen to my situation? Will I be forgotten by my family? AH!? Wait a second, if I’m in the same body on the other side, I won’t be able to dig a dungeon.」

 

Because, to be frank, if I were to go missing, my family would have to give up on me, and then there is the fact that I will cause my Seniors, Juniors, and suppliers at my workplace a lot of trouble due to having to replace me suddenly.

 

「Family and work related…. In short, it will be made to be as if there was no friendship. And  we’ll be slowly removing you from the world, so it’ll be okay. And you won’t be digging the dungeon with your physical power, you’ll be using skills/magic. Because, as expected of our side’s magic, other than the travel to and from earth, the possible range of applications is huge.」

She even played our games?

 

「Well, in order to help you get the dungeon started we’ll allow you to get one cheat.And once the dungeon succeeds I’ll give you a reward, such as using mail order forms so you can receive access to goods from this world.」

 

Eeh? So, if I wanted to I could ride a MS or an AC? Seriously?

Now I’m excited, but what if I don’t receive this cheat? Suddenly I hope I can be pardoned from going to my death.

 

「What about firearms, can I get those? Or even things like Personal Identification, things that the holder doesn’t use.」

「Nope! Only stuff for efficient Dungeon management. Do you know what happens if you use the OOPArts taken from the other world here?」(OOPArts= Out of place artifacts)

「Overconfidence and such things, world balance would also collapse, however is it okay if I just use for self defense?」

「The answer is no. Earth specific things, such as weapons, that move civilization forward is prohibited in the first place. Just learn how to manage the dungeon normally. So is there anything else you’d like to request?」

「You’re completely crushing all my ideas here, saying whatever you want… But it can’t be helped. Give me a ring of instant death avoidance that simultaneously returns me to a safe location.」

 

「Hmm? is that all? Only instant death avoidance? Is it okay that it won’t work if you die from blood loss or taking a sufficient injury?」

「In that case, add an immediate recovery option as well.」

「I can’t use that. I can’t make you immortal. Aah, but if the dungeon management goes well i think about it.」

 

Che, it became harder than I expected. A cheat that will make me unable to die is futile, huh? Then…

 

「I understand. Then, I want an item that guarantees the safety of the beings that become my friends or subordinates, without limits.」

「Ensuring the safety? I see, I see. It could be a handy tool depending on how you use it. This is in the acceptable range. OK, it’s good to go.」

 

Yosh, I managed to do it more or less. Since it doesn’t make one immortal, and it’s only use isn’t just ensuring safety, that use is…

 

「Negotiations went a bit roughly, but I guess that’s just fine. Now I just need to adjust you to Aurora.」
